Holy Crap....it's July 14th!!

No significance to the date, really, I just cannot believe that I haven't posted in almost a month. I'm sure all of my regular readers have been highly disappointed. The truth is that I've been enjoying the summer... swimming with Sunfish in our little pool, tending my garden and hanging out with the teenagers. What little time I've been on the web has been spent reading the sparring between Rational Blues and SYFF.

I must also admit that I'm growing more and more depressed with the farce we call our government. Between Rove's treasonous act, the increasingly right lean of the judiciary, and the fleecing of Homeland Security money, I've just about had my fill of it all. The most depressing realization is that I see no signs that any of the appalling wrongs are going to be corrected. I know I shouldn't stick my head in the ground but my sanity is eroding. My older kids are soon heading out into the big bad world and I'm in no way confident that they'll succeed, despite their intelligence and talents, without a silver spoon. And what about Sunfish? Her fourth birthday is quickly approaching and I'm incredibly anxious about the state of the world as she grows up within it.

So I swim with Sunfish, tend to my garden and hang out with the teenagers. These three acts enrich my psyche enough to keep me from cowering under the covers with my head under my pillow. I'm sure I'll snap out of it eventually, maybe when I start classes in the Fall. I'm fully anticipating that I'll be too busy to think of anything but reading and essay assignments.
